If it were mine, I'd pop it out (it's only three small nuts that hold it in). That way you can use a DVM to see if the switch is electrically operational, whether you can hear it or not.
What you're looking for is at the bottom of each of those pages.
These diagrams are for what's called "early production", and "late production" are the ones with a single plug instead of two, but the WIRE COLORS are the same in both cases, so test the IVS by reading the continuity between the pins that are attached to the RED/LT GRN and RED/YEL wires.
Looking specifically at the single connector trucks.
I've seen some with ten pins, but they are fixed pedal so I am not sure where they go to. Also trying to track down part numbers, to order one. Ordering by description doesn't seem the best.
Appears the Dorman has 5 terminals.Standard Motor Products has 10. Looking at the connectors/pigtails though they are listed as 9-10 terminals, which is weird. Wonder why the discrepancy for the same extra vehicle?

The IVS should read "closed" at the idle position only.
hello I am having trouble finding the right connector for my truck and these diagrams would probably really help but the links you posted are no longer valid. Here’s my issue, I have a 02 excursion 7.3 with the adjustable pedals. The connector that goes to the assembly in my truck has only 5 wires coming out of the back and the only connector I can find is ford Wpt1326 which looks very similar but has 10 wires. I have a parts excursion but it has the 6.0 and I took the connector but it’s gray instead of black and has 9 wires coming out the back of it . Can i just get that one and only connect the wires that come from the harness of the 7.3 truck will it work ? Please help here are pictures for reference picture #1 is the original connector in the 7.3 truck (the one in need ) and picture 2 is the one I removed from the 6.0 truck
go wire to wire no matter the color, follow the wire scheme of the OEM part you are placing, so that it goes into the proper pin hole in the 6.0 connector.
leave the extra holes empty, to prevent confusion in the future.
you probably do not have a MOLEX pin extractor?
they are hollow and you push them into the socket from the opposite side of the wires, it depresses the locking tab, and you can slide the pin out, makes it super easy to use a "new" blank connector.
saving you don't have that, cut the 6.0 wires, and splice to the 7.3 wires.
X2. If the connectors mate correctly and the physical pins are right then the rest is irrelevant. There are various pin removal tool sets on Amazon. I can't say whether one is better than another or if any of them work. Only that I have seen them. I typically just make a tiny flat pick by hammering the end of a paper clip then shaping to suit with a file or whatever is handy. It usually works for me.
