I just finished doing a major change on my 87 ranger 4wd, with 2.3. First , I removed all of the computer, relays,ect. Remove factory fuel injection..This is my first ford, ever. I'm chevy inside and out, however this little truck was given to me by my life long friend...Being the owner of a dirt late model team, leaving things alone is not in my blood..I started researching the 2.3, and became very interested..Having seen pony stocks race over the years it was clear to me, going to a non-computer, and carb was it...Here it is..The head; milled .050, put 1.94 chevy stainless steel intake and 1.60 exc. crane roller cam (535 lift 210 duration). Comp cams roller cam followers and lunita springs. I did some serious porting and polishing as well..Intake; I used the FI intake, ported it as well. Racer Walsh holley carb adaptor, and holley 2300 2bbl. ( did a lot of jet and powervalve changes).Raised intake runners with epoxy to straighten flow..Block; bored 030 to get cylinders true.Probe lite-weight pistons. Crower h-beam 5.7in chevy rods and steel crank. Ignition; MSD dist and 6al..So that's it the short version of project ranger..If anyone has more interest I have more detailed info and pics...Was not in any way smooth sailing, lots of snags..But 8000rpm is no problem
