Hi
I have a 351 .030 over 10 to 1 pistons, GT-40X 58cc heads SVO cam with
296/ 306 duration and .520/ .538 lift plus 1.7 roller rockers. It also has a 750 demon carb and torker intake.
Heres the question
can I get away with this cam in a F-100 4x4 with a 4 speed and 35" tires and 4.10 gears. Or should I change cam or carb/intake
I dont tow alot but I do need towing power when I need it
By the way this engine is in a ranger now and runs great but its going into my supercab F-100.(much heavier)

That cam with a single plane intake probably doesn't make much torque below 3-3500 RPM. In a light Ranger you can maybe get away with it, but I personally wouldn't put a cam with much over 270* duration in a street driven vehicle, and I would acquire a dual-plane intake, to get back some of that bottom-end torque. A little smaller carb would probably enhance throttle response and make for a more enjoyable drive. Just my 2 cents.
call compcams and see what they say. tell them what you have and what its going into. they will set ya up good. or look into a custom grind but they cost a bit more
Ford's duration specs on their cams are somewhat misleading. Always have been. Those are the advertised numbers. The figure at .050 is going to be about the same as many so called "RV" cams. Go with it. But I would swap to a dual plane intake. Carb?Yea, you'll get better response with a 600, you'll just loose top end power.
