i just got the motor all done and it seems that the roller rockers do not stay lined up with the top of the valve?? i have not started the motor yet but i just want to be sure before i break something. the lash is set a zero on all and i am afraid to run it in fear that the rockers don't stay lined up. should i tighten the rockers up a little more? they are set right now to where you can just spin the push rod. thanks and any help is appreciated.
DOVE heads originally had rail rocker arms to keep the pushrods in alignment. You need pudhrod guideplates and hardened pushrods to run roller rockers.
You have so much room in those you can run rocker stud girdles. I have my roller rocker setup under the stock valve covers. And mine are only 3 1/2 inches tall. Yours are 4 1/2 inches tall.
Go to my gallery and there are some pic's off my engine with the covers off showing the guideplates, and screw in studs. Generally what it should look like although ,the rockers have not yet been adjusted in these pics. Eric
