So I'm building a mild 302 and I'm in a pinch to get it in my truck within the next week. Iv got everything but the roller rockers right. The roller rockers I have, are pedestal mount and have an adjustable pushrod cup. Well I set the lash and everything just as the instructions say. But when you hand turn the motor over the roller rockers look like they are riding in the edge of the valve stem and from what iv been reading they need to be centered... And help!?
Can you adjust the pushrod end to get the valve end centered? Since the pushrod end "floats" to a certain degree, even with guide plates (slots), and the valve end is fixed, that's why you have an adjustment, to get the valve interface correct.
I'd just try adjusting from one extreme to the other, see what kind of range you have. You might discover a setting that works, or find there just isn't enough adjustability in the pushrod cup. You might have to shim your rocker arms even with the adjustable rocker arms.
