On my 1997 F350 with the MAF 460, I want to remove both my tanks and install 2 fuel cells in the bed. Main reason is I need the space to finish building a sub frame.
I am fairly mechanically inclined, however I have no real experience in doing this. The RCI cells I want to put in are 19 gallons with 0-90 ohm sending unit. Will this be compatible with the factory setup so as not to cause goofy stuff to happen? What all would I need to get it done (fuel lines, pump, etc.)
Any tips, advice, pointers etc. would be appreciated. Thanks.
90ohm is a chevy sending unit so you would have to replace your guage. You would need your fuel lines, fittings etc. Any reason you wouldn't want to just put a single bigger tank in the bed?
I wouldnt mind running 1 big one, but not being an expert on fuel, ive read that the lines stay pressureized from both tanks and the return lines cant just be capped off. It seems like I would need to keep 2 tanks. Is that correct?
If I were going in bed with fuel cells anyhow I would just go with a single in the bed. Then I would take all of the lines out all the way to the front and run the single line. No need to have all of that in there for no reason. or you can always just extend what you have and put your current fuel tanks inside of a diamond plate box or something you fab up. This would def be the cheaper option, and honestly probably the best looking if it's done right.
