Need some help with this one. I have removed my bed to replace the pickup tubes in my tanks. While I have the bed off I thought I would replace the fuel lines coming to and from the tanks. I noticed they press on to the steel lines and have some kind of fitting on the tank end. Do I need to buy lines from Ford with the fittings on them or what? Thankyou for your help. Tom
I carefully popped the fittings off with a screwdriver. One of them broke so I got a pkg. of new ones @ NAPA.
Do you buy new hose and attach the ends to them or what? I wan't to replace the lines while I have the bed off. How can I be sure if the fuel hose I buy is Nitrile? I am running Bio Diesel. Should I buy small hose clamps for the end that slides over the steel lines that run forward? Thankyou for your help. Tom
Naw man, click on the link (the lettering in blue) and it takes you to a tool website that sells them. This was just the first website that came up when I googled it. I am not recomending this site or saying its the cheapest its just an example of what you need to disconnect fuel lines the way they were designed......
I pulled the clips on the rear tank and decided to replace both lines on that tank and used clamps on both ends (hope it works OK).
I didn't replace the lines on the front tank. I don't know how long the lines are good for but they seemed to be in good shape so I decided to keep them. I just want to cover all bases before I put the bed back on. I don't want to remove it again. Tom
