After reading several write ups, I was ready to go with this straight forward swap. Well, I'm stuck trying to line up the upper mounting bolts om the 6.0 trans cooler. The place where they mount is an empty hole and the cooler's mounting tabs have a captured nut. The 7.3 upper mounting arms arm are narrow and the 6.0 are huge. Because they use captured nuts, these upper mounting tabs have to locate behind the mounting "ear". Well therein lies the headache. I'm about ready to move the captured clip nut from the cooler to the chassis and call it a day. I'm just trying to do it the way I found it.
So, those of you that have done this, how did you get the mounting tabs behind the chassis ears (mounting spot)? The new cooler's tabs are just so tall, I can't angle them in there. Thanks.
**EDIT**
All better, I just moved the "captured nuts" to the chassis. Don't know why the were on the cooler in the first place. I did find another pic of a stock cooler mounted and the mounting tab was in front of the chassis which means the nuts were on the chassis as well.. Weird. Thanks Rod Serling.
i dont remember removing/eliminating anything, to install my buddys' 6.0, BUT i do remember having to contort it in all different angles to seat her in place.
I'm so relieved to finally have this mod done, been wanting to do it for a long time. It real is a straight forward swap despite my post .

Yes and that's what made me post here. I had not read a single sentence regarding "bolt up" issues. Not sure if what I said made sense but I basically just had to move the "nuts" from the 7.3 cooler's mounting tabs and slide them over/into the mounting holes on the truck.
These (pic below) were on the 7.3 cooler so I thought the cooler's mounting tabs had to be positioned behind the mounting locations on the truck. Didn't work, MANY F-Bombs dropped. So yes it makes sense that these nuts should be on the truck as many other locations use these BUT, they were on the cooler when I removed it. Crazy, but it's all on, hoses are routed clean and NO LEAKS!!!
