Source for replacement mirror arm/mount

Is there any other source for QUALITY replacement mirrors other than the Ford Dealership?

Betty is looking mighty sad with these crusty rusty mirrors... What's even worse is that its the only cancer on her so it really stands out, and I'm getting rust streaks down my door.

[IMG][/IMG]

I looked on Ebay, but most only show a "Sketch", not an actual picture of the part, which is a bit concerning. I wanna see what I'm buying.

I saw one for an ok price but the upper mount was "upside down" which I have seen... earlier year mirrors were that way? (pre '92?) looks goofy to me, but maybe because I am used to mine...

I'd check the wreckers but every mirror of this style I've ever seen had rust on it... Why ford didn't make the mounts out of aluminium like the arm instead of steel is beyond me... well, not really...

Wish I could buy just the arm assembly... the mirrors themselves are fine. (stainless)

$300!?! They're cheaper than that on ebay. I just bought them for my 95 F-250 off there (stainless steel) for $50 and they're perfect fit. Type in

Thanks. I saw those, but I am looking for OEM style. Those are clearly reproduction mirrors. The brackets look different, and you can see that the mirror head is held on with a hex bolt that it sticking out as opposed to a countersunk machine screw like the originals.

Those would be perfect for someone wanting to clean their truck up to sell, But I try to keep my truck as close to original as possible.

Plus, I have had terrible luck with repro stuff in the past. The quality of chrome shows pretty quickly after they get wet. I had a set of mirrors I bought one time. $75 for Chinese repros opposed to $150 for USA original's. First time it rained the repros started showing signs of rust... Never again...

Is the passenger side a convex mirror ("things in mirror are closer than they appear")? I've ordered two supposed passenger side mirrors now (from both Amazon and RockAuto) and they've both arrived as regular flat mirrors, which are pretty useless over on the passenger side.

Considering they sell them as LH/RH interchangeable, I would say no... It also states that they are not marked "Objects are closer than they appear"

Why not just give them a good sandblasting, then find a place to re-chrome them?

Ain't like they got rust holes in 'em... at least not that I can tell from the picture.

If they came apart I would. But the way they are put together doesn't look like that is possible.

And likely the chroming would cost nearly the same as replacement. Powder coating even crossed my mind...

Here are some Genuine Ford mirrors, but they also have a sketch. I'd think that since they are represented as "Genuine Ford" they should be just that..if not, Paypal will return your money for misrepresented items.

I steel wooled mine, they were in slightly better shape. Powder coating might be tricky, but if you were to glass bead them, you could probably hit them with some clear lacquer, which should get you a good few years, and cost less than 10 bucks, assuming you have the tools available.

I recommend you check your local jy's first, because there are many ripe for the taking.

I just had a similar problem looking for a mirror for my 97 350. I paid a little under $40.00 for a used one off Ebay. You just have to search and be patient. It's finding the ones with the bolt holes UNDER the bracket that is hard. Mine are stainless.
