I've got a 1994 XL F-150 that the chrome on the mirror brackets has warn off. They are an older style and I can't seem to find them anywhere. They are the swing lock manual mirrors. I've looked on many sites but can find the right style. Please let me know of any good places to find the replacements.
First try a search of the FTE website sponsors. If nothing comes up, consider checking ebay; there are usually several sources there with them in both chrome/black and all black.
TJ: Those should fit unless he has the smaller units that use the same housing as the power units.
The mirrors in the pic are from a 1990 or earlier. In 1991, the upper bracket was redesigned from an "L" shape to that of a "7", which also meant a redesign of the loop (it was made larger) on which the mirror mounts. Hole locations in the door were the same for both styles.
Those are exactly what I'm looking for. On mine the chrome as all came off on the top bracket that mounts to the door on the drivers side. Do you know anywhere I can find that style???
After looking at that picture again, I noticed that the upper mount is different on mine. Those bend upward and mine bend down. I don't know if that can be switched or not. I've been able to find those that bend up but I can't find the ones that bend down.
He is right, mine has the '7' shape to the upper bracket that was described in his reply and in one of my own. Donnor you must have had to have been around many Ford Trucks to know that information. That's pretty impressive man.
I dont think they can be switched around, so that the bracket-door would be 'down'..as you need, 'coz then the bolt for the mirror mount would sit in a 'pocket' for lack of better terms..and not allow pivoiting etal.
I tried tho...
These are for sale, for anyone needed 1st gen mirrors...Trying to clean up the shed.
Good luck on your search.... gotta be some, somewhere!!
