2000 Explorer Leans Left

My explorer leans left. I have looked at the springs and shackels and see nothing wrong. Tire are all inflated properly. Any ideas?

Does the lean seem to be more due to the front or the rear? Have you inspected the front torsion bars to make sure one isn't either broken or way out of adjustment? You might also measure the ride height to help us understand how far it's leaning. Are you talking about a slight sag or more like something is definitely wrong? Since you checked tire pressure it makes me think we're talking just a bit of a sag rather than being bottomed out at one of the corners.

Make sure tires are all the same size. Has it been wrecked?

Not been hit and all tires brand new. Springs in rear and shackels look the same for both sides. Nothing broken front or rear. 1 inch difference right side to left side. Left being lower.

You might be able to adjust the torsion bars to level it out. Check the ride height spec. With any luck it will mean lowering one side half and inch and raising the other 1/2 inch instead of making all the adjustment on one side.

torsion bar spring is a steel bar from the front wheel and anchored under the drivers seat in a hex socket. You "twist" the bar to raise and lower the truck front end instead of a coil spring. Look under the drivers side seat (under the truck) and see if you see a jack screw on a cam connected to the back of the torsion bar. Turning the screw inward a couple turns might do the trick.

ptwohey,

is it lower in the the front or the back? or both?

my 2000 had a very heavy lean to the left due to worn out springs in the rear. in my case the left rear was 1.5" lower than the front right.

after my air bags broke and could not be reinstalled, i was able to get it back pretty close to level by installing a helper spring in the left rear,

and then adjusted the torsion bars up front to get every corner as even as possible.

just another idea.

keep in mind that my springs were VERY worn, and even when i had airbags i could not get it level with 100psi in the left rear, and 0 in the right rear. but the helper spring made it ride and drive a ton better.

The torsion bar adjustment was the ticket. I'm still tweaking it but I'm going to have an inch difference front to back. As long as it's level R to L i'm not going to worry about it. Bringing the front down 1 inch is a lot of adjustment on the torsion bars. I'm selling it so this will have to do. I've put so many parts in this thing it's almost brand new. Gotta draw the line someplace.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
