Anyone have an idea of how to make sure the impeller wheel is balanced? I see lots of things where guys just put them on and run fine but I also see people saying it MUST be balanced.
Well i found the tq specs, its 50-65 INCH pounds. I also did some more reading and most say for a stock turbo it doesn't need to be balanced. For anyone who finds this down the road.
im running the riff raff wheel and had my turbo balanced, it did in fact need balancing and should be balanced any time you change the wheel from what i gather, if you change a tire you balance it, wouldn't it make since to hold the same principle to something spinning 20,000 + RPM on your engine? you can see where they had to grind to get it in balance on my new one, the shop also told me the spec is 100 in lbs
ok well that is the borg warner wheel NOT the riffraff wheel that those instructions go to, so there may be a difference because the riff raff wheel is made from billet aluminum where that one is not, im not sure, im just telling you what the shop told me, and they don't say anything about balancing why i don't know that either, its cheap insurance the way i look at it, there are some people for it and some against it, i myself am for it because one my professor says its a good idea, two because to me its common sense that something spinning that fast should be balanced, and three a new turbo is upwards of 1200$ and i ain't got that cash just layin around.
