53-56 brake drum question
OK so I know there is a difference between the front and rear. The rears will not fit over the hub in front (we are talking F-100 here)
I have 30 rear drums in the pile and almost no fronts left in the stack.
can a rear drum be opened up enough to be used on the front? Has anyone ever done it before with success?
I cant remember if the shoes are the same width front and rear.
Thanks!

If they are that close with a visual inspection
than take some measurements and know for sure
what your up against.
I bet ya could make them work.

If I am not entirley out on thin ice.
When I was looking on the new rear axle I measured the width to 1 3/4" on the rear (my old Dana 41, not necessary the same on Dana44) and 2 1/4" up front. So I cant really see how they could be modified to fit.....?

Would using the rear backing plate give ya the room?
I think everything but the spindle could be changed?

53-56 F100 brake drum question
A8TZ-1125-A .. Front Brake Drum = 1953/56 F100.
A8TZ-1126-A .. Rear Brake Drum = 1948/52 F1 & 1953/56 F100.
1948/52 F1 & 1953/67 F100: 11" x 2" front brake shoes / 11" x 1 3/4" rear brake shoes.
1968/72 F100: 11" x 3" front brake shoes / 11" x 2 1/4" rear brake shoes.
With front disc brakes: 1973/79 F100, 1975/96 F150, some 1980/83 F100: 11" x 2 1/4" rear brake shoes.
Some 1980/83 F100's have 10" x 2 1/2" rear brakes.

After further looking, I was way out in left field on this idea.
