what is that thing

I just got a new to me 2006 f350 6.0 and Im trying to figure out what the little slots next to the steering wheel are. There are wires hooked on the back of the dash but im not sure what they are for

I know what your are talking about but have no clue of the use. If you are sitting in you truck look just to the right there are 4-5 slots like a vent. I thought it was some kind of temp sensor for the cab but I don't have the auto heat controls

Is it just to the right of the steering colum. Like 4 little slits in the dash kinda like a little vent

all SD trucks have them, its just a vent for nothing apparently

It sounds like you guys are describing the temp. sensors for the climate control. You don't necessarily have to have auto climate. But you do need to have dual climate zones.
