A creak and a pop

I have a god awful creaking and popping sound from within my dash. It is directly relayted to my steering wheel. I can recreate it by pushing down on the wheel but I cannot track it down. Has anyone experienced this? I've searched and searched but come up empty. I have the dash apart now. Help..
Forgive Any grammar or spelling errors I'm on my phone
Thanks

Follow the steering column down until you see where it goes through the firewall. Here at this joint both on the cab side and the engine bay you want to lube it up with some white lithium grease or liquid wrench. Give that a try and let us know. Worked for me

Nope that was the first thing I tried. It appears to be the big black piece of molded plastic for the defroster vent. It's rubbing on something. I pushed up on it the shook my steering wheel and the noise is gone. Now I have to figure out how to isolate it

I FOUND IT!!! If anyone else is ever having the issues I was. Before you pull the entire dash out look at the three "V" shaped covers on the top of your dash. Pull them and tighten the bolts
