Bed Tie Down Hook Bolts

Does anyone know what bolts are used on the tie down hooks? One of the hooks had the bolts sheared off when I bought the truck and I'm planning on drilling it out and re-tapping it so I can put a new hook there.

They were torx, I think the head was T35 or maybe t45. I haven't pulled one in a long time, but I recall them being a really fine thread. Maybe something along the lines of 10mm x2.0 or 3/8" x 24.

Not sure on the exact size, but my money's on it being metric. I'll see if one will come loose and check it out with the die set.

Are you talking about the bolts that hold the bed down? I was actually looking for the bolt for the tie downs in the corners of the bed.

Thanks. I tried and didn't have any success getting another one out.

Yes, the almost cleat things in the corners of the bed. I've had to pull quite a few of them back when I was installing bedliners. I had a 3/8 drive torques bit on a cordless impact, but I can't recall the size, but I do remember it was a long drive when the battery was dead.

Thanks Ed! A pack of 10 totally makes sense because only 8 are required. I'm going to have a hard time not picturing that picture then next time I call you...

Kind of like hot dog buns and a pack of hot dogs. Makes no sense at all, but it's probably not over priced compared to other OEM items.

I came across this thread while doing a search. Both of the front tie downs in my bed are gone (was like this when I bought the truck) and both have a bolt broken off in the upper hole. I didn't see where the OP said what year his truck was, but I assume from the thread location that this info applies to my 2003 F250. I am having a hard time finding OE tie down hooks. Seems like this may not be an uncommon occurrence with the bolts for these tie downs breaking off...

Somebody probably removed a drop in bed liner and broke them

Yup:

I broke one off while removing the bedliner to patch the bed floor rust holes in my 2003 F250.

They look like hardened bolts, so I doubt if I'll be able to drill it out.

Could be worse: I thought I broke my Snapon ratchet.
