i was just wondering if anyone could tell me the easiest way to remove a windshield and rear window without breaking the glass. its not on my truck but on my demo car. if it matters the car is a 84 buick electra. i already pulled off all of the trim around both windows so its a matter of breaking the seal around the windows. i was just curious how i would do that. thanks
If they are glued in they make a heated blade to cut through the glue, still pretty risky. One tip on glass work I have found the warmer the glass is the less likely it is to crack. I use to restore 55-57 chebbies and installed a million of the rap-around windshields, what a pain sometimes. the flatter style glass is much easier to work with.
As Aerodude said they do make a heated blade that is shaped somewhat like an "L" it will slid under your windsheild and let you cut through that glue. Have someone else there to help you push the glass out and safely carry it off the car.
I used wax coated twine on my Chevelles windsheild with good results. I used one of my (wifes) butter knife to help feed the twine through. My helper "softly" put small blocks of wood wherever a 1/2" gap showed up. I used a single edged razor/scraper to remove the old seal.
