Anybody know how to get Ford's attention and get them to assume an extended warranty for a problem with some AC systems. On this and many other forums there are reports of "AC blows cold in Max only". Problem is with the blend air actuator or door being stuck in one position. This is a chronic problem on 96-98 Rangers, Explorers and Mountaineers. I called Ford customer service and they said they have no record of this being a chronic problem. Go to Google and search "Ford blend air' and there are numerous articles on this problem. Ford dealership gets $600 to fix this. I hope someone from Ford is reading this forum. Are there any Ford mechanics reading this who know about the problem?
I'd guess that just about any Ford tech would know about this problem. Good luck getting any help from Ford on it though.
The only way might be if you are friends with your dealer, dont have very many miles on your truck, can prove that you've had it serviced at that dealer regularly and can talk them into an After Warranty Adjustment. I'm not sure what the guidelines are for that now because they changed them recently I think. Basically you, the dealer and Ford split the bill. If you search in the Ranger and Exploder forums you'll find some cheaper fixes for this problem and other people's ideas on it.
