You can use your '66 F100 steering column. You need to cut 2" off the end of the shaft where it connects to the rag joint. You will cut the welds that hold the rag joint plate to the end of the shaft. Pull the plate off of the end of shaft. Cut about 2" off the end of shaft to allow for the longer steering box. Please measure before cutting. Slip the rag joint plate back on end of shaft, true it and weld. You may also have to slightly notch the driver's side engine mount near the frame. This will allow clearance for the longer steering box. You may need the steering linkage from a '73-'79 F100 but I'm not sure. http://www.fordification.com/tech/powersteering.htm
I may have forgotten something here so look up forum users "Garbz" or Bill W.
if I find a 67 -72 3 on the tree power steering column with the ford box it will bolt in correct?
You won't find a 1966, 1967/68, or 1969 before serial number D96,001 w/a Ford box, because these trucks were only available with Bendix P/S.
It may be easier to find Amelia Earhart and/or Jimmy Hoffa, than a 3 M/T column with P/S. Very few trucks came with this combo.
Personally, I don't see the allure of swapping in P/S, because it's really only useful when parallel parking...in an empty parking space between two vehicles.
ok let me reword that if i find 69-72 power steering coloumn with ford box will it bolt in trying to avoid cutting mine and rebuilding cost for now
The newer used column would most likely need rebuilding anyway. I believe you can bolt in a '69-'72 PS column but you may need the power steering firewall plate. If you can even find a 3 on the tree PS column.
In the process now have 75 parts, the steering box was missing, got this one: Gear Box Atsco 7505 fits 68-79 Ford F-150 off Ebay still need pitman arm. Will the one that came off the 65 fit? Also bought a aftermarket steering column cost $170 shipped with tilt if you are doing a 65-66 with power steering I ordered the 28" and worked great! use the Rag joint off the 65 or 66 and then find the other 1/2 of the rag joint off something and cut if off the steering shaft, the drill out the old shaft to 3/4" , next get a 10" piece of Double "D" steering shaft. Summit sells it , weld it to the half of the rag you drilled the hold in and that is it. Very easy to do. The Double "D" slides inside the new steering column shaft so you can play with the length. I also bought a Ford type wood steering wheel w/Ford horn kit for $109.99 shipped. Worked out very nice. Also doing Vintage air as well.

I agree. But of if a guy or gal only weighs about a-buck-fifty. It's always fun watching them lift off the seat.
