hello i have a 1999 ford f250 super duty with a V10 i recently have come across an issue i cant solve. what happened is one day i opened the truck doors an then closed them an the dome light didn't turn off it just dimmed an the interior lamp relay started buzzing. I lost function of my power rear view mirrors the dome light stays on the only thing that seems to function properly is the glove box light. when its not buzzing any use of the dimmer or power mirrors causes it to start buzzing again. when i pull the relay its the only thing that turns the dome light of aside from pulling the 10 amp fuse for the dome light and dome light turns off i tried switching out the relay to no avail an the only thing that stops the buzzing with the relay in is by pulling the 10 amp fuse that is used for the dome light, power mirrors and glove compartment so i was able to narrow it down to that but haven't a clue where to go from here any help would be greatly appreciated
It's pretty likely that your windshield is leaking on the drivers' side and water is dripping in to your general electronic module AKA generic control module AKA body control module.
The module is piggy backed onto the top / back of the fuse block assembly and to remove it and dry it out you'll need to lie on your back in the drivers side footwell and use a 10mm socket on a 1/4 drive ratchet to remove the two wiring harness "blocks" that are bolted in from the top at the back. After the blocks are removed it's a simple matter of two nuts holding the bottom and two small bolts holding the top of the fuse block. You'll need a 10mm deep socket to get the nuts at the bottom of the fuse block.
Once you have it on the bench the module can be detached from the fuse block by removing three phillips screws. Use compressed air to dry it out.
If it still won't work you'll need to take note of the ford part # on the module and get a replacement. Unfortunately they're not cheap and will need to be programmed to suit your truck
could be a faulty driver door latch switch? Specifically, inside driver door at latch...a pressure switch..... I have done many Fords that the chime for door being open and dome light stays on. Another symptom, if you have the alarm, is that the alarm is unable to set. Or if you go to lock all the doors using the driver door switch, it won't let you.....either locks and quickly unlocks on its own or switch just won't lock.
If that is the case....simply unplug the switch (you'll have to remove driver door panel to gain access)...it's the only electrical connector by the latch. This will allow normal function of the rest of the lights, but also know if equipped with an alarm and the thief opens driver door, the alarm will not be activated through that one door.
Ok well I tested for shorts an the 10 amp fuse for the roof light, glove box an power mirrors has a short I tested for a short in the roof light an the glove box an both are fine all that's left is the power mirrors an I noticed they do not work how do I find the short in the power mirrors?
