Canadian contraband

This question is for our members north of the USA . If I were to buy a truck from your beautiful country that was let's say in this box and that box and kinda resemble a truck at one time , is there a fee for bringing it to the land of the unemployed ?

You should show us what you plan to export and we will decide if you are allowed to have it! LOL
Import charges to US,I have no idea but we pay to import stuff so I would imageine it works both ways.

Just bring it over the border one piece at a time.
And show us pictures. Boy Chris, you seem to be on a buying spree and making us all jealous.

Using some common sense rationale...if this truck were operational and you drove it home, what would the fee be? In this State the fees don't begin til the visit to the DMV...then it's time to bend over!

I'm not north of the border, but if it's an old Ford truck, there are no duties, unless it was built someplace other than the US or Canada. The same pretty much goes with parts, just make sure you have a receipt or bill of sale covering all of them. If it's a whole truck you'll need proof of ownership.

Vehicles over 25 years old are exempt from EPA and DOT requirements, although you will still need to obtain and prepare EPA and DOT paperwork to provide to a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officer in order to clear your vehicle through CBP.

From a CBP standpoint, you must file an entry on the vehicle. At the port of entry, CBP will complete and provide you with CBP Form 7501 which serves as evidence of the import processing by CBP. Filing an entry is initiated by declaring the vehicle and or its parts to a CBP officer when you enter the U.S. If your paperwork is in order, the officer will help you file the entry at the border. If you are not prepared, the officer may advise you to file the entry at a CBP port near your residence - however, in many cases the closest port could be 1-3 hours from your home, so it is in your best interest to be prepared to file the entry when you initially bring the vehicle into the U.S.

Without a copy of the CBP entry form, you will not be able to register the vehicle in the U.S.

Prior to filing your entry with CBP:
-Ensure you have valid proof of ownership, which is an original certificate of title, or a certified copy of the original. Vehicle Parts will require a receipt for purchase.

Cleaning the Undercarriage:
To safeguard against importation of dangerous pests, the U.S. Department of Agriculture requires that the undercarriage of imported cars be free of foreign soil. Have your car steam-sprayed or cleaned thoroughly before shipment.

If the vehicle has not been in your household for at least one year, you will be required to pay duty. Duty rates for automobiles* (excluding trucks) 2.5%, for trucks 25%, and for motorcycles up to 2.4%, which is assessed based on the purchase price or blue book value. Duty is not assessed on U.S. manufactured vehicles. A vehicle that is falsely declared will likely be seized by the CBP Officer. *Automobiles includes antique or classic vehicles.

It is illegal to bring a car into the U.S. and sell it without first entering it through CBP. If you purchase a vehicle that was brought into the U.S. and sold without being properly entered through CBP, that vehicle is subject to seizure.

-Ensure you have valid proof of ownership, which is an original certificate of title, or a certified copy of the original. Vehicle Parts will require a receipt for purchase.

If that's the case, I would not consider taking it apart unless it is strictly a parts truck.

If I wasn't impressed with your road trips and bring home old iron, I sure am now. I'm impressed, now how are you going to sale the trip to Canada? And when are you bringing it home?

I install standing seam metal roofs for a very will known roofing compony here as a sub contractor. The owner of the roofing compony is a big time fish angler that takes trips to Canada all the time.......I think I see a fishing poll in my future... LOL!
