do you have the updated drain plug?

i had to remove the side cover on the HFCM to get my old seized plug out to replace with the updated version, hence my gasket issues.

It's a bad location, but not a bad device when used with the proper filter with aqua bloc. I drain about a cup into a mason jar and let it sit in the cold amd see if it develops water droplets. This is the easiest to see that water droplets usually at the bottom and white round globes in the colored fuel.

OK, that is more consistent with my thinking. One actually has to drain some of the liquid into a jar to see if the fuel / water separates (assuming there is water).

Unless, of course, there is pure water in the HFCM fluid container.
Water in fuel video:

I can think of a better design or improved Ford Design. The design would be a plunger device that would vent the HFCM fluid container. The plunger would be connected to a "float" that would float on water but sink in diesel fuel. When water was present, the float would indeed float and the plunger would move uncovering a vent that would drain the water. Could put this on the fuel tank or elsewhere. May need to be a little more creative and not have the system active when the engine is running but could be worked out. Would be an automatic water drain.

Drained it again and caught about a qt jar of fuel--had about 1/8" of water in the bottom--my plug does need to be changed to the brass one as the original one is corroded some. I let it drain for a bit to flush it out (I parked so fuel from the tank would run through. Hopefully this will get me until I get the filters and plug to do a fuel filter change. Will do the blue spring too just for safety sake at the same time since I'll be in that area. Don't think it has been done on this truck--least I'll know for sure and have a spare if it has been done.
