Pro's pick box on my '53.
I also have their 1 piece bolt on roll pan on order along with their "WOW strips" for bed wood, bed roll hot lite'z both red and amber to see which will work cosmetically (they are cool with knowing 1 is coming back for refund).
Their roll pan guaranteed to fit their box without any problems. They sell a second 4 piece roll pan that can be welded up to fit the other mfg's boxes that tend to vary from box to box.
Mid west in Springfield Ohio have great deals on beds. Actually, Hot rods buys parts of their bed kit from midwest.
The midwest f100 shortbed actually came with correct lettered tailgate for no extra charge, whereas hotrods added a extra charge for lettered gate.
Shop around and see.
I am almost to the point of purchasing a bed as well. I "need it all" minus the wood. I was going to fix the original but given the price/time of doing that versus a replacement. I'm going to opt for the latter. I am hoping to find something that is as close to stock as possible while still being quality.

Thanks for all the responses to this thread. I carefully looked at all the suggested vendors and their websites; it looks like I will be making a trip the Midwest shop which is about an hour or so away which will really help the shipping expense.
One additional question, are these beds bolt together, riveted, welded, or all of the above?
How do you guys usually handle freight? I guess you got to find a friend with a dock?
That is the best but you can get residential delivery too. It just cost extra and be ready to unload it yourself. I went ahead and ordered my bed so I could pick it up at a truck show. Saved the freight cost and they loaded it in the back of my pickup. All I had to do was unload it when I got home.
Yes, I am a cheapo. So, when midwest offered the script tailgate for no extra charge,I thought that was great. The beds I got all bolt together. Very happy.
Oh....and I only bought 2, as my 3rd truck was sold and replaced by a 56f250 longbed.
SHOP AROUND AND don't be afraid to check prices out and save as much as you can. Some times you come out ahead.
