Hey guys I was thinking has anybody thought about adding a heat element or has already done it tour style of west coast mirrors, If so how did you guys go at it, did you buy a heater or did you salvage one from the JY, I just think it would be nice to be able to look at a clear mirror in those cold fogy mornings, If it’s been done I would appreciate any info and I think others would to thanks in advance.
Not that I've seen so far. I can only assume the mirror glass would have to be changed also to something that could handle quick temp changes. Besides the heating element, wiring, and a switch. Novel idea though!
For telescopes it's sufficient to epoxy a string of resistors to the back of the reflector (Newtonian scope) to get rid of fog when winter viewing. Neat idea. I have some new mirrors. Maybe just getting one of those back window heater repair kits, make a stencil and screen a pattern on the back. Epoxy some tabs for the electrical connection. Might have to experiment with this.
Many yrs ago, I saw the large W.coast mirrors that where rigged up with a what looked like a dash light plugged into lower bracket that holds the mirrors. I though hmm,
I wonder how they kept them fog free.
