Okay so I just came in from doing some testing. I unplugged the pcm at the firewall and tested for grounds and power feeds. Pins 24,25,51,76,77,103 all tested as good grounds and pins 55,71,97 all have 12v's. I also tested pin 80 which according to the diagram I found d is wait to start output and it also has 12v which I'm not sure if it should being unplugged with the key off.

I also went back out and unplugged the fuel bowl heater, checked for power at the go relay. I have 12v at the red/green little wire while key is on. I pull fuse 22 and I still get .36v on the red/green wire. The way its looking to me the PCM is fried. Can anyone tell me if a 95 pcm would work in my 96? I have a 95 5 speed pcm and was wondering if I could test with it to see if it would start at least.

If it's not a California PCM, it should at least start the truck.

It should start the truck but I doubt it will know what to do with your automatic trans.

If it starts it that should narrow down to my pcm being bad is my thinking. I don't want to buy a pcm and that not be my issue. I'm running out of ideas though.

Agreed. I would definitely try it, I just wanted to be sure you didn't think it would be a direct swap and make the truck driveable.

Yeah I knew it wouldn't work with my trans but I have been gathering stuff to do a 5speed swap. I'm hoping it at least makes it start and idle.

It should do that much, though it may act funny at idle. I know an automatic PCM in a manual truck will make it romp on idle, but I don't know for sure what it will do the other way around. It should start and run though.

Manual PCM in auto truck will idle fine. Should also respond to the go-pedal. It just won't shift the tranny.

Update I put the 5 speed 95 pcm in it and the wts light came on but my batteries were drained from messing with it. I hooked jumper cables to my Cummins and let it charge for 10 minutes. Cranked over for about 15 seconds and stumbled to life. It ran tough for a minute but is idleong fine now. Its been running for 15-20 minutes and I've shut it off and started it a few times. Looks like I need to find a new auto pcm.
