Adjustable Track Bar

How much or a difference will one of these make? I'm trying to straighten out my steering and front end. I have a 4" suspension lift. I ordered a new pitman arm and steering gear to help my steering and in my research I discovered the adjustable track bar. Anyone have any input on these?

thanks Jason

All the track bars are adjustable there also refered to as inner tie rod ends. I suggest ordering all new tie rod ends.

EDIT: Do your self a favor and have someone jump in the driver seat and turn the wheel back and forth while you look at all your tie rod ends moving back and fourth and inspect everything else moving. The truck doesn't have to be running but you may need to have the key in the ignition so the wheel doesn't lock. I just did this yesterday and found that my pitman arm is junk.

The tie rod ends are on the steering links. The track bar is the big bar that connects the axle to the frame and keeps it from moving side to side.

An adjustable bar may be necessary to center the axle at ride height, if your axle is off center considerably, you should consider one.

What pitman arm did you order? A drop pitman arm should only be used with a drop track bar bracket to keep the suspension/steering geometry correct.

Ford power steering pumps don't like having the steering wheel turned back and forth very much. A little movement is ok, but if you steer/turn the wheel too much, you'll puke fluid out of the power steering unit if the engine is off.

I ordered a Pro Comp FD500; pitman arm for a 4"-6.5" lift from Summit. They didn't include any suggested parts, this is all new to me some any and all input is greatly appreciated! I'll have to look up a track bar drop bracket. Would that still be needed with an adjustable track bar??

Yeah, you will still need it. You want to keep the track bar at about the same angle as the tie rod that connects to the pitman arm.

Yeah, I've had a drop pitman, trackbar bracket and adjustable track bar on my wish list for a while, along with hydro assist steering. But then the truck needed brakes and hubs, and then it needed the tie rod ends replaced... and so it goes.

It seems like the more time I spend in this forum the longer my wish list gets!! Now I need to research hydro-assist power steering!

You know how you can't turn your steering wheel while sitting still with the brakes depressed (maybe yours isn't that bad, but mine is)? It takes care of that . Also helps prevent the sector shaft in the steering box from breaking, which is always a fear of mine while wheeling.
