Well we worked on it only to find a mess of things.. Turns out Ford fubar'd the Lift install and my Pitman Arm dropped a ways down the steering shaft.. It doesn't look pretty.. Shes parked until it's fixed, too risky to loose my steering.. So the list of replacement is;
- Tie Rod end that hooks to Pitman arm.
- Pitman Arm drop as we think its damaged.
- Adjustable Track Bar
Does anyone know of a Adjustable Track Bar that is good for our trucks? I'm on crunch time, this has to be fixed this week..
*Nevermind I found out that Donahoe has a Adjustable Track Bar, its just called a Pan Hard Rod lol
Thanks ya'll.. I'm ordering parts this week and hopefully it'll be fixed thursday.. I have to get a Tie Rod end (one that hooks to Pitman arm) from Ford, then the Donahoe Pan Hard bar since the truck ended up being installed with the factory track bar, which is binding the suspension.. As well as another Drop Arm.. Looking at about $300 in parts, nothing too crazy, just worried the hell out of me.. Drove 65 miles at 45 incase the thing let go..
Wow,did the nut back off allowing it to movelike that?Thats scary!
We think so.. I paid the Ford House to install it.. I came back for all 3 intervals to torque everything down... Normally after 2-3 times, once they are torqued, their not going anywhere.. So we think Ford didn't tighten it down.. I'm not about to trust them again so I'm repairing the parts myself..
If you use the nut over, make sure you put some red locktite on it and make sure you get it sucked up tight, I have seen a couple lifted trucks with the pitman loose.

Thanks lowet! We're getting parts shipped in monday and will fix it asap.. I'm just glad we found it.. Had this happened on the road, it wouldnt of been pretty :-\
Does anyone know for sure, the pitman is suppose to be right against the steering box right? You shouldn't see anything from steering box housing to the pitman.. Even where the marks show that it dropped, was still a quarter inch gap between the steering box housing and the pitman arm.
Yes there is supposed to be a gap. The shaft on the steering box is tapered so the pitman arm can't go up tight against the box unless something is wrong. If for some reason it did, then the steering would be tight as it would be rubbing on the box.
