On most models it stays down. Some are tiered and have a lower tent as well.

This is the kind I want. Set up a solar shower in the bottom section.

Although, as mentioned, you wouldn't likely have issues with these parts during an EMP, if you are still worried about it, you could build a faraday cage and keep spare sensors inside it.

No need to build one. You can buy one off Craigslist for $5.00

Microwave oven.

Id add a layer of aluminum foil around the viewing glass and some metal tape on the vent holes though. The magnetron of a microwave is 2.4ghz/m well above a dispersed EMP blast wavelength. Using the foil creates a barrier capable of resisting up to 300ghz/m.

Archtaan good to know about the EMP and thanks for information. I might just keep stock trans and just build it up. Buy the stand alone computer to run it. I already have the 12V from my 97 Dodge that was totaled out I figured why not do the conversion.

Thumbs up FYI

  1. Keep your mouth shut, during my career in law enforcement; I made many cases because people talked to friends and relations that they trusted. I have seen brothers roll on brother, wives on husbands. The less people that know your secrets the better.
  2. Live in a cash world when it comes to prepping. Credit cards and checks can be traced.
  3. Don’t order from the internet, this can be traced. The company you ordered from always keeps a mailing list and records
  4. Don’t get preps through the mail. The post office has been known to record the shipping and return addresses.
  5. Keep your preps out of sight. A friend of mine who is a handyman often sees signs of preps and storage when working on houses.
  6. Stay off internet prepping sites, including mine. You leave a record everywhere you go.
  7. If it is legal in your state, avoid registering weapons.
  8. Be careful where you get rid of your trash. Packaging from preps needs to be thrown away without attracting attention..
  9. Buy in small quantities, through big box stores, pay cash and avoid attention.
  10. Watch what you say on the telephone. Remember the NSA is watching you.
  11. Avoid attracting attention, don’t get involved in politics, or wear tactical clothing.
  12. If you have already started to prep and have made some of these mistakes, spread the word that you were a fool and have changed your mind and have gotten rid of the junk
Got it, get it.

Sure would , but were would you go ? and fuel is an issue. Unless you have a second passport and plenty of money.

A sailboat would be better, but if planning for a true escape ! second passport is a must.

You could find me in Turks and Caicos or down in the Exumas at my favorite quaint bars sipping margaritas and enjoying a cuban cigar

As we walk the road of preparedness, lets keep these in mind. Murphy is a GOOD FRIEND.

One is NONE, Two is One, remember that.

Enjoy
  1. If the enemy is in range, so are you.
  2. If you can see the enemy, they can see you.
  3. Incoming fire has the right of way.
  4. Friendly fire isn't.
  5. The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly fire.
  6. Don't look conspicuous: it draws fire. This is why aircraft carriers are called bomb magnets. (OKAY I GET IT WERE BIG, JUST DON'T BE FLASHY)
  7. There is always a way.
  8. The easy way is always mined.
  9. Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.
  10. Professionals are predictable, it's the amateurs that are dangerous.
  11. The enemy only attacks on one of two occasions: When you're ready for them, and when you're not ready for them. (BE READY, skip the LATTE, and buy the ammo)
  12. Teamwork is essential; it gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.
  13. If you can't remember, the claymore is pointed at you.
  14. If your attack is going well, you have walked into an ambush.
  15. The enemy diversion you have been ignoring will be the main attack.
  16. Don't draw fire, it irritates the people around you.
  17. When the pin is pulled, Mr. Grenade is not our friend.
  18. If it's stupid but works, then it isn't stupid. (KEEP IT SIMPLE)
  19. When in doubt empty the magazine.
  20. Never share a fox hole with anyone braver than you.
  21. Anything you do can get you shot. Including doing nothing. (SO DO SOMETHING)
  22. Make it too tough for the enemy to get in and you can't get out.
  23. Mines are equal opportunity weapons.
  24. A Purple Heart just proves that were you smart enough to think of a plan, stupid enough to try it, and lucky enough to survive.
  25. Don't ever be the first, don't ever be the last and don't ever volunteer to do anything.
  26. The quartermaster has only two sizes: too large and too small.
  27. Five second fuses only last three seconds.
  28. It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the area you just bombed.
  29. A "sucking chest wound" is nature's way of telling you to slow down.
  30. If you're short of everything but the enemy, you're in a combat zone.
  31. When you have secured an area, don't forget to tell the enemy.
  32. Never forget that your weapon is made by the lowest bidder.
  33. You are not a superman.
  34. No plan survives the first contact intact.
  35. If you are forward of your position the artillery will always fall short.
  36. The important things are always simple.
  37. The simple things are always hard.
  38. No combat ready unit ever passed inspection.
  39. Beer math: two beers times 37 men equal 49 cases.
  40. Body count math: two guerillas plus one portable plus two pigs equals 37 enemy KIA.
  41. Things that must be together to work usually can't be shipped together. (SIMPLIFY)
  42. Radios will fail as soon as you desperately need fire support.
  43. Tracers work both ways. (SO DOES INFRARED AND RED DOTS)
  44. If you take more than your fair share of objectives, you will have more than your fair share of objectives to take.
  45. When both sides are convinced that they are about to lose, they are both right.
  46. If it moves, shoot it.
  47. If it doesn't move, poke it with your gun barrel and then shoot it again.
  48. Overkill works.
  49. Murphy was a grunt.
