Devin described it well. each station has an alert tone for just that station. Baltimore COunty has a similar set-up for the fire department. We use an alert tone for urgent stuff in my department. But that is for all units. I am glad we have completed our digital transition.
Got you. So some dude got nauseous smelling a dirty diaper and they had to tone the squad 3x's for a response! Too funny!
Exactly

I wish we were digital, but there isn't a ton of money in this county. Public safety in the county to our west uses a system that work with their smartphones. They get the alert, then respond and are tracked to the station using the GPS in their phones. Pretty cool system.
You get used to it. I've been streaming it on my laptop it at work. Nice to know what's going on. You usually don't hear the tones since the pagers just beep when the tones drop. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with just a radio until Monday
I have learned to tune the tones out anymore Devin. I hear enough between my department and the city police and fire at work.
I don't want that! For the time being, I keep my radio on the paging channel at night and let the tones wake me up, then listen for my company number. Shouldn't have to worry about that after Monday, though.
