i cannot vouch for how well they work..... ive never tried to weld plastic..... your lucky too sean! corporate HQ is not but a hop skip and a jump from your location.
I'm not sure the plastic welding will work on the type of plastic that I think your barrel is made of. Could be wrong. But I'll bet Gorilla Tape would hold it. Patch the slit, and then wrap a girdle around the barrel to limit the bulging that caused the hernia.
I was gonna say, it was leaking because you had it laying on its side. Supposed to be upright. But thought better of saying such a stupid thing.
Thanks Bill, 'nuther good idea. It lasted fine for 3 years, until the plastic got brittle in the sun. I was also considering a irubber nner tube patch with some good sealer. Just doing my part for arid SoCal.
That barrel is Beyond repair. Plastic welding might last...until the next rain. When styrene type plastic or something similar is brittle and cracks, it's just an invitation for another break.
Kinda surprised when opening to see Steve's response, then of course, looked at the date. His comments here will continue to come up and his name and legacy will live on.
Very neat to see this old post.
