Put this transfer case in after
planetary wore out because of pump failure in the previous transfer case. This one is pouring fluid out of this hole. Dont recall any place for it to come out when i had it apart but it has been a while. Is ther a seal or something there? Can i access it from out side with out splitting the case? Never had one do that. Looks like my other truck has a black plastic recessed plug looking thing. Anyonegot a borg 1356 apart or laying around they could look at?
If I'm not mistaken, that is where the rod that the range and mode forks ride on goes. That is not good! I can't recall if there is a piece that presses in from the inside or if the case itself is broken there. Either way you are going to have to split the case to at least see what all is messed up inside there. It may drive like it is but you'll never keep fluid in it, and it will be a miracle if it goes into 4wd like that.
I wouldn't move it another foot until you crack it open and see whats in there. I've ordered parts from these people several times and have had great luck.
Ive drove it a lot. If the rod wasnt there it wouldnt go into 4 wd. The fork would flop around. Like i said it seems to be missing a plastic recessed plug my that my newer f150 has. Hopeing someone had a spare they could look at. Shifts fine. Went through this one just dont remember anyplace to leak. My 96 seems to be plugged from out side with a plastic piece that looks kinda. Like a thimble
I had to look close. I can stick my finger way back in the one thats leaking in my 350 where as the 150 my finger wont go back near as far. At the raised round lip at the hole looked like i could see the out line of the "plug" over the aluminum
