transfer case fluids
I don't have a lot of miles on mine (79,000) but it has many years (1984) Just wondering what is recomended for changing the fluid in my transfer case. Should I do it or just leave well enogh alone?

I bought a 97 Expolorer and only about a pint of nasty looking stuff came out when there was supposed to be 1 1/2 quarts in the transfer case. Checked it cause it felt a little strange driving. Couple of flushes and 15K later it is fine. Rear seal was bad. The interesting thing was that there was no sign of a leak till I filled the case. Transfer case levels are often very ignored.
