Effie Work
Had to do some paint work on the f350. The bloke I bought it from had it in a shed where it sat for 8 years getting bird poop on its roof and eating through the paint. I had stripped all the paint off the roof but couldn't get good weather to paint it out side.
So I bit the bullet and got a permit to drive to my cousins house about 450km away to use his shed and expertees, he's a panel beater by trade. I needed to do this before the winter rains come, and I just wanted to get into the country again.
Here are some pics
Paint stripped, but just coated with fertan
Preped, bogged, rust treated etc
Colour going on
Just thought I would keep a log of work done to the ute.
Cheers

The finished roof. Don't worry about the discolouration on the doors.

Must be cheaper to send a US F350 over there than it is to send an X-flow 250 head over this way.... still waiting on one from a fellow Aussie... I don't ever expect to see it....

Your after a cross flow head. Wow, something special in mind? Postage in Aus is the biggest killer, saying that though its cheeper to get stuff from the US than ship too there. Often you double the price of parts just to get it here. Still cheaper than buying from the rip off merchants in Aus.
I'm not a fan of the JDM guys with there shopping list of stickers on their cars, but I still own my Datsun 1200 ute with big block 1500 in it.haha. I should get a pic of them both together once they are both finished.

Got this from the states to fit to my Effie.
Mine is toast, mostly just clicks now and when it does engage it gives a week half rotation and dies.
The new one is a cheap one but hopefully does the job. Now all I have to do is con a mate to do it for me because my stupid back has laid me up.
Cheers all.

Wanting to take a break from house renno's, my eyes were drawn towards the neglected Effie in the back yard. Fortunately the back felt okay today, not quite good enough for a starter motor r&r,but good enough to fit a new radio and speakers.
After removing the drivers door trim I found the previous owner had butchered the door to fit 8 inch speakers, so the 5 1/2 inchers I had to fit were just going to fall through the hole.
After a quick test and inspection, the no name speakers got the nod.
Ran new speaker wires and a dedicated fused wire from the batterywired her up. The wire for ignition power did not work(yellow/black), so it has full time power. Just have to remember to turn it off when I leave.
The stereo works well but certainly isn't as loud as it would be in my Datsun ute.Bit of a size difference.
Now all I have to do is pull my finger out and fit the starter so I can listen to tunes on the road instead of having the worlds biggest back yard ornament,
Cheers
