When you put the damn thing in drive and the doors lock as soon as you take your foot off the brake. What do you have to do to disable this thing? This little fear of locking myself out is getting the better of me.
Seems like I'm disconnecting alot of these things.
Check your owners manual, it gives the directions. I have not been locked out yet although a friend did get locked out because he opened the passenger door, reached across the cab and started the truck and closed the door. When his wife came out to leave, the doors had automatically locked.
Just a thought.... If the doors lock when you place it in drive then take yur foot off the brake.... How do you lock yourself out?? I've started and let idle lots of ford trucks and never had one lock me out. they wont automaticly lock until its put in gear, with a delay in doing so. Maybe I missed something!
I would have to agree with xcop. Also I was thinking why you going to put it in drive and get out of the truck? Wont the truck start rolling off. . Also if you have a keyless pad on the outside you can just put your code in to unlock the doors if it does lock when it is in park.
The keyless entry pad is disabled as soon you start the vehicle.
I have heard stories of people trying to leave their vehicle running and lock the doors to run into a store, only to come back out and find out that the keypad does not work.
Disable instructions for the auto lock feature is included on the keyless entry instruction card. Without keyless entry I don't know.
BTW keyless entry DOES work with the doors locked and the engine running. Key fob does NOT work with engine running. I just went out and verified it(with the spare key in my pocket just in case).
