Brake question

I have been searching the forum for what you guys are doing to upgrade your brakes and I cant find any current posts. What is the latest upgrade to the pads and rotors to improve braking? I know at one time everyone talked highly of pro slot rotors and hawk pads. Is that still a good set up? Where do you buy the rotors?

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

power slot cryo treated rotors and hawk super duty pads, this was my huge improvement! made a world of difference and no more warped rotors!

i got my stuff off tirerack but i'm sure you can get it cheaper elsewhere.

Is power slot the brand name? Having trouble finding them online. Stoptech the same?

Has anyone had any experience with Stoptech/Centric fleet pads? One vendor told me Stoptech/Centric is the same manufacturer as Power Slot.
I can only find reviews using Hawk pads.

I put AC Delco "special performance" rotors on my F250. They're drilled and slotted. Motorcraft Extreme Duty pads. I got all of it from Amazon. I'm impressed enough with the setup that when I finally get an Ex, I will be going with the same setup.

Lots of options.

Going the Motorcraft Extreme duty pads are a good choice. Ford calipers and rotors are good choices. You can get Ford remanufactured calipers loaded with heavy duty pads form Rockauto. These are done by ford.
Other good choices are the Power slots and Hawk pads as described above.
I tow a a heavier trailer and I went with EBC pads and High performance Raybestos rotors. ( I also replaced the master cylinder, calipers and all lines and hoses at the same time)

Those are the three main methods I know of upgrading without buying a larger rotor, custom calipers and pads like some have done. Going that route is rather expensive.

I was also looking to upgrade and install new brake lines. In some places it says 3 hoses (2 front, 1 rear) while in others it says 5 (2 front, 1 rear center, 2 rear). How many are there?

Unless they made changes between my 2005, it's 3 in the rear. One down to the axle then it "T"s from there.

Yep, there are a actual total of 5 hoses.

Two front, one rear that goes between the frame and the axle, and then one on each end of the axle. There is a hardline on the axle that runs to each end and a flexible hose that runs from there to each caliper.

I just went through looking for the same info. I'll spare my comments on the search and performance of this site, but there's some threads out there with good data like this one: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...on-brakes.html

The favorites seem to be the Powerslots and Hawk pads on the front. Everyone claims the EBC pads and rotors work well and have the best fit. The Napa and Wagner rotors got some good reviews also.

I've got EBC GD-series rotors and Yellowstuff pads going on this weekend, so I'll be back with comments later
