Yeah, it would probably drive me insane if idled as bad as it sounds like it would. It's still a bit premature since I haven't even gotten the engine in the truck yet, but I like to go into things with a plan.
Based on what y'all have said, I think the plan is when/if I order the injectors, I'll probably send the PCM out for a reflash at the same time. Then when I get the injectors installed and have a chance to drive it a while, I'll decide whether I want to add mo' power.
Don't worry too much about the lousy idle. If the chip breaks, just drive over to Tony's house and let it idle outside his window. That will get you fixed up rather quickly.
