Ok my filters should be here any day. I have found 2 brands of trans temp sensor. Dorman and Techsmart.
One has a better warranty but is there any reason to buy one or the other?
I drove the truck the other day to try and get it scanned. Didn't get the codes though. It drove not to bad, at some points it's normal and sometimes the shifts are just off or hard and it feels like it has a stall convertor on take off. If this sensor doesn't do the trick I am taking it to Ford to scan it and go from there.
Of course it has a stall converter. Every torque converter ever made has been a stall converter. Every converter will stall at some point, so it is a stall converter. Maybe you meant to say a high RPM stall converter? That would make sense.
I've never heard of Techsmart. That doesn't mean it's a bad part. I have a lot of experience with Dorman. Some of their parts are very good, and some are so horrible I can't believe they sell them. I don't know which category this part fits into.

Haha .....yes it feels like a drag car a little bit.
Ok well maybe I will go with the Dorman because it also had the better warranty if I remember correctly.
You can buy one at the Ford dealer. I don't know who manufactures that part.
Well I found another Ford dealer that can get me in today and scan it so I decided to spend the 135 and find out for sure even before trying to replace the sensor. And if it is that I can grab it while I'm at the dealer. My filters came in today also so fingers crossed I can get this resolved soon, there are many jobs she is needed for around the ranch.
Well now I'm worried more.....on my way to the ford dealer someone pulled up next to me at a stop light and told me it was leaking, at that point I was litterally 1/4 mile from the dealer so I just got it there. When I looked underneath it looks like it was actually coming from around the pan itself. We haven't found any leaks up till this point.
I left it there for them to figure it out. Will update when I hear from them.
You had been looking at that pan and around it specifically you would have saw the leak
I think they sabotaged it
Haha no it happened before I got to the dealer.....maybe it was overheating and spewing out but it didn't seem to be overheating. Now I just sit and wait for the call and hope I can afford it lol.

Reason: typos
I have been thinking and thought about one point that might give me a bit of hope. When this problem first happened last weekend the first thing we did was check the level of the trans fluid. Well I couldn't see with my eyes and a friend said it looked low. We added just about 2 quarts, next day the guy who came to try and scan the truck mentioned that the trans fluid was a bit high.
Well i figured I would be draining it soon to change the sensor and wouldn't be driving it till then. Today when i decided to take it to Ford I never thought about it.....so maybe it was over filled and it was overflowin? The trans temp gauge never moved and the bottom of the trans pan was not extra hot or anything.
They just called me and updated me. The fluid was overflowing and they have told me the "not coming out of park" problem is actually in the trans. The unhooked it like we did at the trans and it would not move at the arm that comes out of the trans. I guess when we did that test the truck was on previously and warm because after 5 minutes it will move. But when they did that the shifter on the column worked fine (I didn't try that while unhooked)
They were getting ready to drop the pan when he updated me so hope to have the final answer soon.
Well they just called me with grim news. He said there is a ton of metal in the fluid when they dropped the pan. He said it needs a new trans at 4500 bucks that comes with 3 year unlimited warranty. I'm not even sure what to say right now except the ranch needs the truck back.
And it is currently sitting at the Ford dealer. If anyone knows of good shops around north Dallas that I could take it to please tell me who. Im assuming ford will be more but if that's the best place for it to be done right I will have them do it.
Gonna start looking and calling around and anything anyone has to say about this is appreciated.
