I'm siding with bad luck. And, where you live. In Georgia, I never get rocks hitting me windshield. In Mississippi - whew!! It's absolutely unbelievable how many times your truck will get busted! EVERY vehicle in Mississippi will get cracked windshields!! If you ever drive through here (I'm here now), just look at cars windshields. And I don't know how to tell you how to keep yours from getting hit. Wish I knew. One of my trucks has two big cracks and lines now.
Its luck man. Wife told me that she picked one up driving the other day out in Colorado. Add it to the honey do list to get taken care of when I get back to the states.

I second that, I live in Hattiesburg, I have SafeLite on speed dial!
I have a Subaru that cracks or chips every time a rock touches the window. First crack was when the car was 2 days old and it happens so frequently there is no point to repair. On the other hand, I had a Jeep Cherokee that took massive blows and never cracked once. That kind of consistency isn't luck.
I've had bad luck on my 2010 Fusion and now the 2012 F-150. Smaller rocks making chips than would have on my 2003 F-250. By the sound they make hitting the glass, it almost seems like the glass is harder and more brittle than it was on my 2003. It took many hard hits and never chipped.
