I don't think pinesol cause any discoloration so you should be good to go. I think you can let it soak in it for a few days to with out having to worry about it. I would spray it down with brake cleaner after you pull it out just to make sure every nook and cranny is as clean as possible.

I let it soak for a few hours, scrubbed it with a green scotch pad, made a new batch of pinesol and water and let it soak over night and repeated the green pad. Then sprayed it all down with a carb cleaner

it depends on you engine and throttle cable type. I still have to figure this out for mine to cause none of the stock stuff would work with the new intake manifold and carb. but to attach the cable you need the ball stud on the side of the throttle plate.
