Posting questions

When you come on here and ask for some help. NO one can tell you anything if all you say is "I have a truck that makes a noise when I switch it off" At a minimum tell year,engine,tranny,2wd/4wd. Be as specific as you can with symptoms/problems. There are some damn fine mechanics on here, but even they cant plug an OBD2 into your 64 f100 240 3 on the tree 2w/d.

Oh you mean follow these guidelines....at least go ck out the 2 links at the bottom.

1973-1979: FAQ's, Tips & Tricks, Projects, and FORUM INFORMATION, -PLEASE READ!
Please use descriptive titles for your posts.
The generic "Help me" type title while "cute" is of no help to other users trying to identify posts they may have knowledge about.
==============================
Please post all of the information about your truck!
We assume the make is Ford
-Year
-Model
-2wd/4wd
-Engine
-Transmission
-At least the basics please!
And any other information you think might help, -we are not mind readers.
===============================
PLEASE post only ONE question per topic! Multiple questions in the same thread add confusion. "And alot of us confuse easily"
===============================
This is the 1973-1979 Full Size Truck Forum. We talk about general questions regarding the F-150 thru 350 and heavy duty trucks because some systems are similar.
This site has specific forums for major parts of the vehicle like:
-Engine
-Transmission, Differential, Axle, and Transfer case
-General Suspension
-Fuel system and Carb
-Electrics/wiring...etc etc. -Check out the list of forums.
If your question ONLY deals with a major part of the vehicle, like the ones above, put it in that respective forum. The 73-79 truck forum is for general questions about parts of the truck. A question like "what kind of heads should I put on my engine" has nothing to do with the rest of the truck, it only deals with the engine, so it goes in the proper engine forum.
================================
FTE also has CLASSIFIED ADS for buying and selling vehicles and parts.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ease-read.html

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...mpilation.html

And here is another tip, just in case......Do you see the blue line with User CP, Albums, FAQ? See the search on that line? It has a drop down search menu arrow, go to the "Advanced Search" option, type in there (top left corner) say "blab la bla" and then go to the lower right column and high light 73-79 forum. Select it and then you will have a detailed search just in the 73-79 forums.

Oh and have a nice day, before some smart allec makes a wise crack and messes it up. lol

4x.. the other situation that gets under skin is the lack of any troubleshooting... not even a visual or tactile inspection or display of deductive reasoning based on when/under what circumstance it happens.

Examples:

"My truck started making a clunking sound. Any idea what it could be?"

"My steering is loose and the truck wanders. HELP."

Well have you checked the oil lately....what do you mean, where is the dip stick! What !!!!Since it NOT painted yellow like your DD chevy volt, you have no idea!!!

Go to the gym and work out.....NO JK its called a rag joint, tie rods, steering column, ball joints, steering box, trac bar for you 4x4 guys...radius arm bushings....ever ck'm? Yes Virginia that is under the hood.

Ok I am only being a smart aleck, cause I 'll be the 1st to say I for sure do not know much about ALOT of things. And I am only being funny and do not want to hurt any one's feelings. And this ain't no "pirate" ship we are cruising on LMAO. Keep rowing ya slackers!

But I read/study all I can and get my hands dirty, work on my trucks when I can. Know how to use the advanced search, I have blisters from copy and pasting, I am good with it. Cause I am working far away from the things I love.... wife, Ford trucks....so I am FTE madman for the time being. Hang in there, at least its paid for, and "Built Not Bought".

No offense meant, just picking on ya. Ok, BTW the dipstick is Ford blue unless is greasy then you know what means...time to get your hands dirty.

Next....

Here's a funny one... a relative (a metrosexual, non-mechanically inclined, never hammered a nail, girly man) had absolutely no clue that the engine coolant circulated through the heater core to provide interior heat.

.... To this day I question his geneology. Gonna have to ask my aunt about that someday.

I though it was hot air from the engine that was ducted thru the cab....you mean it isn't?

I have (3+2 angled X 70 MPH) air conditioning.... that works great in the winter only.

Pray tell I'm going to find a hammer...

More often than not, i feel that the threads that i start may be a burden, and a repetition, to more knowledgeable members. I am also on Mobile search with a horribly slow carrier that returns 26,000 results and half a dozen ads. It is frustrating to search.

This being said, i do appreciate the patience that you all possess, lol.

Incidently, most of my "whats this sound" threads, have been answered. Thanks again
