Please keep the 73-79 forum to specific 73-79 TECH questions.

The user announcement forum is where users are supposed to post personal info to do with themselves.

Dennis

I am going to ask a question here as I am confused. I have read all of the rules and checked the FAQ's but I am confused by your previous response that I quoted. Where does it say this is a Tech only forum? I have looked and I see that some forums do say "No Tech Questions" but where is the limitation noted that only tech questions can be posted by members who are only interested in interacting with other 73-79 owners? I have no personal inclination to use any forums except the three I post to normally and find it odd that you would intentionally force members to interact with people who may have no interest or experience in these types of things. I think it is great that you have an engine swap forum but I also think that a person swapping a stock 460 in a 79 is going to get better info here than in a forum where answers will come from inexperienced people who have 80's and have never been under the hood of a 79. When did this group get so screwed down? I have been gone a while and I am amazed at the level of negative responses. Maybe it is just me but I have to agree with 79oneton, the response to his post was negative. I have seen a lot of this and am disappointed by the loss of camraderie and friendship. Just my opinion, Hawkrod

Yes indeed . . . this forum is no help to anybody . . . that's why there's so few members here. I could not have built my truck without the help and expertise of members of this site. If you have such an overwhelming knowlege of these trucks already then I'm sure you don't need to come here for advice. If you don't want to post: DON'T!

You see, that is the very kind of response I am talking about. It has nothing to do with how many or how much help they are. This forum seems to have become a clique and welcoming and congratulating new members is no longer in vogue. If you can't slam somebody for being honestly happy about their truck then good god, what good are you? I guess it is only the members who have a lot of posts behind them that should be allowed to post. Iif the person is new or asks a question that most people know the answer to, then slam 'em and slam 'em hard. Sorry that is a stupid response to valid reaction. Not that you are, but I think. only an absolute moron would take the time to respond the way you did. Hawkrod

Coming in here screaming for someone to kick you off a "punk" forum and stating that it's been of no help over the past 2 years is not asking a question, it's being a jackass. If it were a valid question and I had an answer I would have helped, just as I always do. If you don't think new member are still greeted here I suggest you read the forums more carefully. I only slam idiots for being idiots, not for asking questions.

here's my thoughts on the situation, while this site is very helpful in the information deptment, sometime the moderators overreact about some of the topics and replys, I do say that some topics have been moved for wrong reasons, like stated above a 460 swap into a 79 IS a engine swap question but it is also a 73-79 truck question has well and should be in both forums or either one. I my ophion people should be let to say what they want, as long as the apporiate languae is used i.e. no swearing, by leeting everyone say there peace, a more balanced disscusion can take place, weather or not it gets a little tempered at times is something that will happen and should let to be happened, until it gets way out of control.

I guess you didn't pay attention to his post. The other thread he was refering to was locked so he was not given a reasonable opportunity to respond in that thread. Looks like you went off half cocked by responding without being aware of what you were responding to. Hawkrod

If this reaction is over the closing the Snowplow change announcement,then why couldn't he get in on this thread like the other people ?

See the 1st reply to the post.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=335151

The thread was locked to keep out even more sarcastic comments, plus he was given a re-direct to the announcement forum, because that is basically what he was saying <> I get to try a real test of my snowplow on the F350.

If there is a problem with something done here. Let's do it privately.
Bringing it into public is ............
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Forum is being OVER-WHELMED with Mis-posted threads .
A lot of The Actual 73-79 related threads are getting pushed to the next page while a thread about the horsepower of a 351M or 400 is posted.
Agreed this is a community but the Forum is the largest & Busiest.
Over-react ?
Too Many people are thinking because this question *INVOLVES a 73-79* the gist of the topic does. Not True !
Rust on the cab of a 73-79 truck is NO Different than Rust on a 48-2005 Truck.
Therefore, the BODYWORK forum is the place for the thread.
I would hope people would see that and Support the notion of Keeping things in-line & helping the moderator .
An Announcement is an Announcement.
If a person wants to convey personal information to others about something they did, then why can't that happen within a conversation instead ?
There are Numerous Chit Chat allowed to continue on this forum.
The problem is mainly flagrant Engine HP, Rear Axle,etc type threads.
