I was under the assumption that i had in my possession and on my truck a edelbrock performer/ or rpm manifold ( in my gallery ) .
There are no casting # 's on it which i found weird but did really care, i used it anyways. All that it says is edelbrock and 427. I just saw a picture of somones engine that had a F427 intake and was wondering if this was the same sort of deal or what the differences would be if this was perhaps a stock aluminum intake from a 427? or is it just a regular edelbrock intake w/out cast #'s
i wish i would have taken a picture of it befor i put it on. it is identicle to that but in the back where the red cap is there is just a flat spot. everything else is exactly identicle. So this is a good intake right? otherwise if i have to buy a new one it is going to cost somewhere around $280 for jegs or summit for the performer or rpm! The difference between this one and the 4brl one that weighed 1000lbs that came off is that this one has around the same lower end power but really takes off at about 3800 - 4700. dont know if that is safe to take the motor that high but if she goes then i guess its time for a build up.

I just went and looked closer and wouldnt ya know it, the F on there is just faded really bad so it is the F427 intake.
so these things are hard to come by? how do they compare to the newer performer and RPM? and what kind of range do they run?
I would sell it to you but i now am using it. sat in my dads garage since 1992 when the motor threw 2 rods. got some other good parts too like 428 cj heads, valve covers and extra accesories.
Buck, I would keep your F427 manifold and not even consider the rpm performer. The F427 is a very nice dual plane, it should do fine till 6250 rpms. The new perf RPM is a supposedly updated version of the F427, but Edel changed to 'constant velocity' runners on the newer design. I don't know why they felt they needed to do that......if you look at a 428CJ, PI, sidewinder or Blue thunder intake, they all have the tapered runner design like your F427 does. I think that is what the FE prefers. In this case, the older design is better, IMO. DF
thanks for everyones help, its really nice to be able to post a question and instantly get an answer from so many people that know whats going on and have great experiance. Thanks everyone.
Also for what you could get from those 428 CJ heads you could buy a new RPM intake NP.CJ/low riser heads work good.Just not as goos as my MED riser Edel
