E4OD issue, lockup failing?

Hi,
I have a 1994 class C RV based on a E350 chassis With 7,3 IDI and E4OD trans.
When driving in overdrive, the trans occasionally goes out of lockup for 1-2 seconds and then goes back into lockup. It happens maybe once every hour/second hour when driving the Whole day. There is no slipping or any other problems with the trans, temp is just fine.

It only happens when driving in OD

RV has appr 70.000 miles, trans was rebuilt incl new torque converter 3 years ago and has appr 10.000 miles on it since rebuilt..

The issue started about 6 months ago. No other issues with the engine and there is no check engine light and no flashing OD light. Read codes, nothing found there.

Could it be the TC lockup failing?

Any of you experienced anything like this before?

it could be a few things causing that.a couple of the most common on these older trucks would be a dirty or damaged solenoid pack plug.
another fairly common issue that would cause that, would be a faulty/failing BOO (brake on/off switch.)
personally i would head right to the s-pack plug for a close inspection, repair or cleaning as needed.

Failed shift solenoid pack plug.
This is an example of what you don't want to see! This is the main harness that the ECM uses to communicate with the transmission. If yours looks like this one, google search:
E4OD solenoid wire harness repair kit 1989-94
(that will be for all idi trucks with the E40D.)

could also be a failing solenoid pack or even a mechanical failure of the converter, but small things before worrying about larger things.

after 4-5 times of the converter unlocking while in od,it should set code 62.

Thanks for the feedback. I get no codes and no flashing OD light. And the issue has been going on for several months. I did find another thread that described a similar problem, but there was no conclusion or info about a fix.
I will check the wire Connector you described as soon as the weather clears a bit.

Been a while since I started this tread. I have checked the plug and harness on the trans, and this looks just fine to me with no exposed wires and connecting points on both ends are clean.

I still experience this issue with the trans going out of lockup for 1-2 seconds once every hour or so when I drive for a full day. Last weekend I towed a boat and had the overdrive switched off. I experienced the same thing her, trans going out of lock up occasionally.

I strongly suspect that there might be some sort of signal going to the trans that makes this happen. But I am not able to figure out what this is.

I really hope that someone out there has experienced the same thing and found the answer and fix for it.

Exactly where is the Brake On/Off switch located?

BOO switch is on the brake peddle, under the dash.

In my case the od light was flashing from time to time all random, and the od switch would not work,
Found out it was the wire going through the gear lever to the od light and switch, i had to take the switch apart and take the steering column cover and a coupple of other bits off and change the gear leever due to the fact that the wiring and connectors inside is glued/fixed and aftwr that it vas all fine
