I had my new heads redone completely , new valves, guids, seals..(i havent never seen those kind of seals before in my life, my machinest put them on when he done them, there like a reddesh color and have a little coil spring that runs around the top of them like a front seal has, Please explaine that to me),
new high performance double valve springs, 3 angle valve job, exhaust ports polished, intake ports cleaned up, and shaved .030"...
I just got back from my grandmothers in Tennessee and havent put the roller rockers on yet, but I have them in, both the rockers and cranes coversion kit..
Also the engine is still in my truck the stock heads are off and I just got my new cam in..I was wanting to know how that I would torque the head down on the passengers side, I have the blower box on the outside of the firewall...The second bolt back from the firewall on the heads was a pain in the royal *** to get out because of that blower box being in the way, when I put my new heads on what will I have to do about torqueing that one bolt back...I got new head bolts too....
Ready for the heads to be put on tomorrow hopefully..I was still worndering about the Question above I asked..(the second head bolt back from the firewall on the passengers side head [the outer bolts])..
If anyone has any advise for me id be greatfull...
l got my engine ready for the carb and intake then she'll be ready for the road..I cant wait to hear her run.. Adjusting the valves was quiet easy.. Thanks for everyones help~

I am sure you know this, but just as a reminder, remember to run the oil pump for a bit before you drop in the dist and fire it up. That way you have filled the lifters, run oil through the system and valve train. Make sure the new springs are well lubricated as Torque1st suggested.
Started it up TODAY!!.. It sounds Great!, not like an old singer sowing machine..hehe
I rebuilt everything about 8k miles ago and never done nothing to the heads but give them new seats..
I put my new cam in and heads.. The Roller Rockers was neat of how they went together with the studs and guide plates..I finished adjusting the valves theis morning and put it all back together, I sat the #1 cylinder on TDC and made sure the balancer was setting on Zero degrees, sliped the distributer in and set the rotor button to the #1 plug wire then snaped the plug wires on..and Fired it up..I had a friend set in the truck and crank it.. I adjusted the advance on the distributer untill it hit.. then it cranked right up...It made me quiver all over.. I love doing this kind of work..hehe
I broke the cam in and went out and tested it out.. it ran so smooth compaired to what it was..now it will break loose at 45 mph..
I soaked the lifters over night in a jar of 10w-40 oil.. and pumped them up the best i could with my fingers..I also took a drill before i put the distributer in and turned the rod on the oil pump to prime the system, I poured STP all over the valve train so that way I wouldnt have a "DRY" start and everything would be well lubed...
If anyone one has any questions on the Crane Cams Roller Rockers and the conversion kit for the 351m give me a hallor!!
Thanks for everyones input on my build

question...how much open spring pressure can either the ford or crane pedestal rockers withstand? Ive seen Angus ones on ebay claiming to withstand quite a bit, any thoughts?
I have been running a Crane H278-2 Cam and Crane Energizer Roller Rockers w/guide plates and hardened pushrods for quite a while in my 400 powered '53 F100. I have had no problems.
the valve springs on my truck is rated at 1.550, I hear they have no problem with 1.555, but I dont know forsure..
Ive had no Problems out of my Roller Rockers so far.. The engine now has 900 miles on it sence I put them on.... They cleared my Chrome Eldelbrock Valve covers also, the are in the same shape and style of my stock ones..So I would say that they would have cleared too...

From the Crane Site:
"NOTE: Energizer rocker arms with 11 and 44 prefix part numbers will accept a maximum valve spring dia. of 1.500" and maximum spring pressure of 500 lbs. Energizer rockers with 13, 28, and 80 prefix part numbers will accept a maximum valve spring diameter of 1.550" and 550 lbs. maximum spring pressure."
Looks LIke 13744-16 for the Ford V-8 69-82, Boss 302, Boss 351, 351C-351M-400 can handle 550 lbs.
