460 Roller Rockers

I have a 1992 F350 460EFI that I am considering installing the Ford motorsport roller rocker kit on. My question is has anyone done this and will the rockers clear the stock centerbolt valve covers. This is supposed to be a bolt on kit according to my friend at the local Ford dealer. thanx for the info Richard

If you motor is completely stock I would forget the roller rockers. The gain would be very little. I believe you need a spacer to go between the valve cover and the head plus longer bolts for the roller rockers to work. Roller rockers work great with high lift cams and super stiff valve springs.

thanx for the reply. I have Thorley headers into 3" single exhaust with a 70 series flowmaster, K@N intake kit and a mild cam. I also installed the 2.08 intake valves in the heads and cleaned up the ports a little and a early straight up timing set. The motor runs good just looking for more. I haven't chipped it yet and have had no problems with the computer. The truck is a crew cab 4x4 with 3.55 gears and a 5 speed and its getting 12 to 15 mpg and I've been told a chip would hurt my mileage. thanx for the info Richard

Im running those rockers on a 77 460 motor. I noticed a little gain But with 500+ CI Its kinda hard to tell a few HP here or there. I would do it again. They come witht the Bolts but I had to order the shim kit seperate. I have no clue if they will clear your Valve covers. I have Holley Covers on mine and theres plenty of room.

I believe the pedestal mount kits will clear the std rocker covers. A simple call to Ford motorsports tech line will probably get you an answer.

I'm running those rockers on my 75 460 with the stock "Power By Ford" covers and have not had any problems.
