In-Tank fuel pump

Has anyone ever tried an In-Tank fuel pump setup with an aftermarket 38 gal tank?

No I have not, what is wrong with the mechanical one on the side of you motor? The in tank one is more for a EFI set up I do believe.

Pm sent.

better check the pressure of the intank unit, FI needs way more pressure than a carb. Unless it's just a supply pump from a truck with a dual pump system.

I am going to run a return line back into my tank and use an electric setup to help with vapor lock issue while towing in the heat. Just wondering about the submerged pumps.

What are your actual concerns, they've been using them for years now.

How did you intend to plumb it if your going to run a return? On the fuellies, they have a back pressure valve to keep the proper pressure on the rack and the excess goes back to the tank, but that is generally a high pressure valve.

Tanks Inc has a in tank low pressure pump for a carb, look it up, it has the flange brackets, tray, all you need is a flat surface on the top of the tank to mount the flange.
Usually if you insulate/protect the lines, (around the exhaust is where it really helps) use a external electric pump, or even the mechanical pump you should be fine

I have one of the tanks inc units, a complete one that I never used, pm me if you think it is what you want, I would get rid of it super cheap.

I just spoke to "Tanks, Inc." and they do have a setup for my tank. They will extend it to whatever length I want. All you need is a regulator which I already have. I had an external one that I burned up before so I thought an inside the tank model would be better.

Aeromotive makes a top notch in tank pump!! Unless your going gravity fed then a electric external pump is not the way to go.... I sleek from experience
