ah well look at that.without the interest in the trucks past the 9th gen i guess there was no reason for me to ever know that, but it's interesting where f250ld went just the same.

well sometimes the parts stores will get it wrong.specifically using your idi and power stroke example of 1994.many,many people over the years have reported errors in getting psd parts here in the idi section, even when supplying the parts counter the 8th digit in the vin (engine code.) to avoid these issues,if they walk in and simply say they have a 93 diesel truck, all the issues are gone.
not saying you can do this with other examples.but for the idi trucks this is always well known.simply avoid stating you've a '94 idi code truck cus some parts are just listed incorrectly and or the parts counter still selects the psd vin code mistakenly etc.etc.this is why not to be specific with this particular year idi truck anyway.sorry to ruin your example lol!

I don't think this ruins my example at all. You've got to know what you have and order appropriately. So you have to tell the the parts people you have a 93 if you have an IDI and 94 if it's DI.

My point is know what you have to know what you have, to order and just say all 94 and up is over simplifying. I think if anything, you helped illustrate my point further... Or maybe I'm just grapsing at straws trying to win an argument

I have a 97 F250HD and I just order parts for a 96. I've done a lot of work to this truck over the last 4 months and can tell you that 96 and 97 the parts are identical. now 95 and earlier are not. The OEM spark plugs for the 351W in 96 and 97 are different than in 92-95 for example. When I got this truck I asked the same question on here at some point.

I thought it was a Better Idea (to coin a phrase). It gives people who want the new body style an option for a truck that can haul a camper. It also let them eventually come out with a crew cab on the new body style. And having two completely different F-250s that didn't share ANYTHING in common was not so bright.

But it does lead to people saying "the new F-150s are so much better than the old ones, they can haul as much as an old 3/4 ton." That's because they ARE the old 3/4 ton!
