Tailgate removal w/camera

Ok, not one of my best truck weeks...

Coming home from a snowmobiling trip, the tailgate decides to "open itself" and land on the crank handle for the trailer jack. Gouges up my tailgate bad. I go to remove the tailgate, and of course I'm trying to unplug the camera harness and end up taking the camera off the emblem... wtf

How/what is the right way to disconnect the camera harness, when you're trying to remove the tailgate? On a side note, I found that not being able to open my tailgate with my trailer connected is my biggest pet peeve on my F150... Never had that issue with a SD.

Follow the wire from the camers under the bumper and u will find a plug in just unplug and feed wire up through grommet hole and pull up slack and take of tail gate. Ford tail gate has nothing to do with it hitting trailer jack and all to do with the lenght of the tongue on any given trailer..

Thank you. Just got the tailgate back and finished installing everything. You're right about the trailer... I had to blame something to feel better about myself..lol

We are all guilty of this so don't feel too bad. When you get upset about something like this it helps to deflect as a coping mechanism. Its fixed now so just make sure you are careful lol.
