Well when the nice weather returns, I plan on doing a cooling system flush on my 04 6.0 liter, ive never done this before on this truck and im seeing a lot of suggestion's about using FOMOCO VC-9 cleaner. Just wondering whats the difference with it? Why not use Prestone Flush? Thanks for the input, Im still learning about my first Diesel.
I honestly don't know whats in the prestone flush, sounds like the vc-9 is a fairly heavy duty wash then. Nope no clogged oil cooler, just doing the maintenance thing
If its not plugged I wouldn't use any cleaners a couple water rinse and put the coolant in it
don't pull that thermostat cause if theres any garbage in it it will kick it all up and plug that cooler what don't matter if the OC is already plugged you want to kick the junk up and flush it out
Iv seen guys with your situation go to town cleaning and end up plugging that oil cooler
The Fumoto valves in the engine block are great !! It makes life so easy when it gets done again.... the one by the starter is a TON of fun,,, but it can be done I think Benny is correct in saying no cleaner if your oil cooler is good.... Just Flush Flush Flush..... Are you going to The CAT coolant?
