I'm having problems finding it. What side of the engine would the casting numbers be on? The engine block is in a big mess due to oil build up around the engine and also alot of rust. I'm going to clean the engine but there are parts with rust on it and I don't want to blast the area where the casting number is.

Let's start with pictures of the block then the head and also the gasket you have and what part number that is.
Get the casting number off the head first while you clean the block .
When you clean the block just scrape off what oil deposits you can and then any kind of solvent and brush off the remainder of it.
ok thanks, I will start with that. i have to go to the machine shop on monday to get the head, so i will retrive the casting number then. also i will get those part numbers from the new replacement gaskets i have. as for the block as soon as i get it cleaned and locate the casting numbers, i will post them. thought i was going to get some progress yesterday, cause it was for a change above freezing, but today is a totally different story. - 28 just alittle on the cold side for trying to clean that engine. but will get it done soon. thanks again for your advice and help.
